Data Retention Policy

1.1Core Principles

• Data minimization: collect and keep what we need
• Purpose limitation: use data for stated marketplace functions
• Storage limitation: delete or anonymize when no longer needed
• Security: protect retained data with appropriate safeguards
• Transparency: explain retention in plain language

1.2Legal Bases

Retention periods reflect contractual necessity, legitimate interests in fraud prevention, legal obligations (tax, AML, intermediary due diligence), and consent where applicable. Indian users' rights under the DPDP Act 2023 include erasure subject to lawful exceptions.

2.1Account and Profile Data

Name, email, phone, profile photo, preferences, and verification status are kept while your account is active. After closure, core account data is deleted or anonymized within 90 days unless retention is required for safety, tax, or legal holds.

2.2Listings and Media

Active listings remain until you delete them or your account closes. Deleted listing content is removed from public view promptly; backups may persist up to 90 days. Promoted listing billing records may be kept longer for accounting.

2.3Transactions and Payments

Order history, invoices, payout records, and payment metadata are typically retained 7 years for tax, audit, and financial regulations in applicable jurisdictions, including India GST records and US accounting standards where relevant.

2.4Messages and Support

In-app messages may be stored up to 3 years to support dispute investigation and safety reviews, or longer if tied to an open case or legal hold. Support tickets are generally retained 3 years after resolution.

2.5Safety and Fraud Logs

Security events, device signals, moderation decisions, and fraud investigation files may be kept up to 5 years to protect users and comply with law enforcement requests. Identifiers may be hashed where feasible after case closure.

2.6Marketing and Analytics

Cookie and analytics data follow periods in our Cookie Policy, often 13 months or less depending on tool configuration. Marketing suppression lists may be kept indefinitely to honor unsubscribe requests.

3.1User-Requested Deletion

You may request erasure via contact@listifys.com or in-app data tools. We honor requests unless retention is necessary for legal claims, fraud prevention, completing transactions, or compliance with court orders.

3.2Anonymization

Where full deletion would break financial or safety records, Listifys may anonymize identifiers so data can no longer reasonably be linked to you.

3.3Legal Holds

Data subject to litigation, regulatory inquiry, or law enforcement preservation requests is retained until the hold is released, even if a deletion request is received.

4.1India (DPDP Act)

Personal data of Indian users is erased when the purpose is fulfilled and retention is not required by law, consistent with DPDP Act storage limitation and erasure rights. Grievances: contact@listifys.com.

4.2GDPR / UK GDPR

EEA and UK users may have additional rights to restriction and portability. Retention schedules align with GDPR Article 5 storage limitation principles.

4.3California (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents may request deletion of personal information collected from them, subject to statutory exceptions for security, debugging, and legal obligations.

5.1Backup Systems

Encrypted backups may retain deleted data for limited rolling periods before overwrite. Backup restoration is restricted to disaster recovery and security incidents.

5.2Service Providers

Processors such as cloud hosts and payment partners delete or return data per contract when services end, within timeframes compatible with this policy.

6.2Effective Date

Effective July 14, 2026. We review retention schedules periodically and update this policy when practices change materially.
